The motorcyclist fatally injured Tuesday (12/12/17) at 7:20 a.m. in the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Burning Tree Drive in Nashville has been identified as Dustin Yates, 24, of Rockvale, Tennessee.

Yates was riding his 2004 Yamaha northbound on Old Hickory Boulevard when the driver of a 2001 Mercedes Benz SUV attempted to turn left onto Old Hickory Boulevard from Burning Tree Drive. Yates collided with the driver's side of the SUV. He died at the scene. The driver of the SUV, Tony Jones, 20, of Burning Tree Drive, was not injured.

There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene. The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be failure to yield to the motorcyclist on the part of Jones.
