A Murfreesboro Police detective was found deceased inside his home.

Sergeant Kyle Evans tells NewsRadio WGNS, "It is with deep sorrow that I announce Murfreesboro Police Detective Lieutenant Charlie Goodloe was found deceased at his Rutherford County residence Wednesday afternoon."

At the request of the Rutherford County Sheriff, District Attorney Jennings Jones requested that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conduct an investigation into Detective Lieutenant Goodloe's death.

Evans stresses, "According to preliminary reports, it does not appear that foul play is involved."

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.
