(MURFREESBORO) The results of this next election will have much impact on area residents. A new governor, U.S. senator, our US congressional seat is on the line, and more. If you want to vote, remember the deadline to register is October 9, 2018.

You can do that at the Rutherford County Election Commission office on the southside of the square, or if you're an MTSU student--a voter registration point will be set-up in front of the Paul W. Martin Sr. University Honors College building between 9AM and 2PM on Monday, August 27, 2018. The campus event is sponsored by the Murfreesboro chapter of the American Association of University Women and the American Democracy Project

The on-campus student voter registration will be repeated on Constitution Day, Monday, Sept. 17, and on the last day of voter registration in Tennessee, Tuesday, Oct. 9th.

According to the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, 44.5 percent of MTSU students voted in 2016, a .5 percent increase from 2012. The 2016 voting rate for all institutions of higher learning participating in the study was 50.4 percent.
