The owner of a massage business on Memorial Boulevard called Murfreesboro police after she was swindled out of $100. The 34 year old woman told officers that a man entered her business and told her that if they wanted to continue receiving fire service from the city, they would need to buy a voucher for $100.

The victim bought the voucher and the man left. Later, the owner of the massage business called the police after thinking something was not quite right about the purchase.

As you may be aware, the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department does not sell fire protection service. It is a service that is funded by taxpayers across the community.

So far, the man behind the scam has yet to be caught. The case has been labeled as a fraud.
