Murfreesboro City Council voted last night to approve a modification of the City Code provisions pertaining to the Water Resources Department which will update the department's name and create a new role within the city government.
The new role was developed during the July 19th, 2018 workshop session where Council received and discussed information about a reorganization.
According to City Manager Craig Tindall the person filling this role will enable The City to handle continued growth while assuring:
1) Excellent customer service to the citizens
2) Delivering this service in the most cost-efficient manner.
Part of the reorganization will enhance coordination with the Electric Department through the creation of a Utilities Director position, which will be assigned within the new organizational structure to the Assistant City Manager - Utility Enterprises.
