Two MFRD teams were deployed in October 2015 to assist South Carolina residents during the damaging floods. The first team rescued a total of 21 people and six dogs. The second team spent a majority of their time assisting the National Guard, running missions, and helping victims retrieve items such as their medications from their residences.

Team Captains Clay Walls and Josh Oliver, along with Fire Rescue Chief Mark Foulks, will lead the presentation. Walls and Oliver will recount their experiences and share pictures from the deployment.

"We learned about the deployment at our Veterans Matter Chili Cook-off in November," said Noon Exchange Club President JoAnne Skidmore. (MFRD had participants in the contest) "We were so impressed by their involvement in helping another state, but were not surprised by their willingness to help others in need."

Skidmore said Fire Rescue Chief Foulks offered to speak to the club, but after reading about the deployment in the news, she felt the story should be shared with the community. "This is precisely the reason Tennessee is the Volunteer State...because of the hearts of men and women like those who serve at MFRD."

A Resolution sponsored by Senator Bill Ketron and co-sponsored and signed by Senator Jim Tracy and Representatives Bryan Terry, Mike Sparks, Dawn White, and Rick Womick is expected to be presented to MFRD.

"We are honored to have this opportunity to share our experience with the citizens of Murfreesboro," said Fire Rescue Chief Foulks.
