Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Chief Mark Foulks tells about the dangers of today's home fires being more deadly due to the synthetic materials in furnishings. The chief gives life saving information.

He also discusses plans underway to improve Murfreesboro's ISO ratings from #2 to a #1 in the future. As a requirement for this improvement, Chief Foulks gives an update on the construction of the Doug Young Emergency Training Center on the corner of Bridge Avenue and the New Salem Highway.

The chief updates progress on constructing a new Fire Hall #4 on Medical Center Parkway. It will have direct access to the Stones River Greenway and is on the river as well. MF&RD's Special Operations Rescue Team (SORT) will be headquartered there. They can put rescue crafts into the river at that station. In addition, they can send the small all-terrain fire fighting units down the Greenway, should a fire break out along any of the walking course. Plus, they also have a small, all-terrain, type of ambulance that can go out to assist runners-walkers along the Greenway.
