Shooting at someone is always a bad idea, unless you are in immediate fear of lethal harm. That evidently was not the case when 49-year old William D. Verge allegedly fired a single shot from a pistol towards a Murfreesboro man. Verge reportedly fired the shot in an apartment parking lot, missing the reported victim and instead hitting a parked car. After Verge fired the shot, he fled in his car, according to a police incident report.

Verge was later questioned by police and taken into custody. During questioning, he admitted to firing the shot that came after a brief disagreement in regards to his daughter. Evidently, Verge claims the situation involved his daughter and the victim in the case.
