32 Year old Cody Thomas was arrested by Murfreesboro Police and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Patronizing Prostitution along with a single count of possessing a schedule two drug.

Police responded to the parking lot of Select Inn on South Church Street this past weekend after someone called dispatch stating that shots had been fired.

When police arrived, they found spent bullet casings in the area of where the shots were heard.

A motel employee told officers he observed a dark colored Dodge pickup truck driving through the parking lot in an erratic manner. The worker said that a female was driving the truck.

Police located the truck on Interstate 24 near South Church Street. When they attempted to stop the driver, she refused to pull over. The chase was terminated, but the vehicle was located by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office in Smyrna. There, alleged driver Melanie Scott pulled over for Deputies.

During questioning, a police report shows that she admitted to being a prostitute and had been at Select Inn on South Church Street with a subject named Cody. 32 Year old Scott told police the man shot at her as she was leaving.

The investigation turned towards Cody Thomas who told officers he met Ms. Scott through Backpage.com. He claimed to have agreed to pay her $200, but there was a disagreement about the suggested services once she arrived.

Police later found the weapon allegedly used by Thomas and seized the gun. He was then charged with aggravated assault and patronizing a prostitute. Due to him reportedly possessing un-prescribed Oxymorphone pills, he was charged with possession of a schedule two drug.

Ms. Scott was charged with prostitution, evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.

The ATF was contacted after the arrests were made as the weapon recovered was "illegally modified," according to the arrest report.
