Murfreesboro man killed in Monday morning accident on S. Church St.

The Murfreesboro Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday morning, (March 25, 2013 at 6:37 a.m.) at the intersection of South Church St. and Caroline Dr. The crash involved two vehicles that were occupied by only the drivers. One driver received CPR on the scene and was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center by Rutherford County EMS where he died from an apparent medical condition. The second driver was uninjured in the crash.

52 Year old Larry Myers of Murfreesboro (deceased) was traveling South on S. Church St. in the outside lane of traffic when he crashed into the rear of a semi truck. The semi was driven by 39 year old Jason Witherspoon. Witherspoon was stopped at a red light when Myers ran into the back of his rig. Myers was killed in the wreck.

Police say their investigation confirms that Myers failed to stop and as a result crashed into the rear of the truck. Sgt. Evans stated in a press release, “At this time we do not anticipate any criminal charges being placed against the driver of Vehicle #2.”
