Murfreesboro man shot in forearm over stolen cellphone allegation

A 27-year-old Murfreesboro man was shot in the forearm this past Friday (8/04/2017). The incident occurred in the 300 block of South Bilbro Avenue.

According to the victim, he was shot after the suspect accused him of stealing a cellphone. After the accusation was made, the victim said the 38-year-old suspect opened fire.

When police arrived, they recovered five .40 caliber shell casings. However, the suspect was gone.

Detectives are now investigating the shooting. As for the victim, he was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville with non life threatening injuries. So far, an arrest has not been made, but police do have a suspect name. The case has been labeled as an attempted murder.
