A man who told police, “he was just trying to make a little extra money,” was arrested on felony cocaine charges after being pulled over on the Old Salem Highway.

57-Year old James Howard Malone was stopped by Murfreesboro Police for running a stop sign, according to an arrest report dated February 22nd. When police officer A. Price questioned Malone, it was noted that he appeared to be “nervous.”

During questioning, “James asked for a cigarette.” The arresting officer quickly grabbed the cigarette box and found eight small, individually wrapped bags of cocaine. After the drugs were found Malone allegedly told police, “he was just trying to make a little extra money.” Police seized the man’s cash and his 1997 Cadillac.

Malone was booked into the Adult Detention Center under a $3,500 bond and charged with felony possession of cocaine. He will appear in court on April 9, 2013.
