Murfreesboro Population nearly Doubles Every 20 Years

A story that WGNS broadcast earlier this week showed that Rutherford County continues to grow. But, what will the population in the City of Murfreesboro look like in the future.

Murfreesboro City Manager Rob Lyons said that the population in the city doubles every twenty years.

Currently, the city of Murfreesboro has a population of approximately 126,000 residents (2015 numbers).

By year 2030, the entire county of Rutherford is expected to have a population count of 442,691 residents. In year 2064, a recent University of Tennessee study shows that Rutherford County will hold 787,164 residents.
