Murfreesboro Rotary Gives $1,000 To Oakland High Interact Club
November 25, 2009
The Murfreesboro Rotary Club donated $1,000 to the Oakland High School Interact Club. Interact President Suzanne Sallaj received the gift from Rotary President Beth Smith. Rotary International created the Interact concept in 1960 as a way to encourage service among youth and foster their active interest in a community, along with developing leadership skills.
After students from the Oakland High School Interact Club spoke, Cindy Tinker shared how Rotary has impacted her life. In 1990 she was awarded a Rotary scholarship for a year’s study in Australia.
