Murfreesboro Rotary Honors Sue Hillman As A Paul Harris Fellow

November 17, 2009

IMG00026 On Tuesday (11/17/09) the Murfreesboro Rotary Club honored a local woman who has dedicated her life to helping foster children. Sue Hillman was inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow, one of the international service club’s highest honors.

Local Woman Devotes Life To Helping Children

Sue thought that she was just attending the luncheon meeting with a friend, and had no idea about the prestigious award. In fact, the Murfreesboro resident brought the ninety-first foster child that she and her husband Ralph Hillman have welcomed into

their home and hearts. L-R photo ID: Sue Hillman, foster baby, and Rotarian Sonny Reynolds.

God Told Her To Care For Babies

Sue Hillman explained that a revelation from God came to her as she was leaving handbell practice at First United Methodist Church back in 1989. At that time, their youngest child was nearing completion of high school. Since that inspiration, the Hillman’s have care for 91 babies. By the time this couple helped thirty infants, Sue’s husband, Ralph, who is a well-known retired MTSU speech professor, decided to have the infants christened and get the blessings of their church family. In making the presentation, Rotarian Reynolds commented on how it was an honor to thank such a caring and loving person.

The Murfreesboro Rotary Club meets at noon every Tuesday at the Stones River Country Club.

Congratulations! I first met the Hillmans over 12 years ago when we adopted our first child. She kept a log of his days with the her sharing all those first moments. She even had pictures. I have since shared this album with our son. Those can never be replaced in his very new life. Our child was well loved and taken care of during his stay with the Hillmans. I still send her Christmas cards with a picture so she can see how he has grown. Thank you for all you do with foster children.

Got something to say?
