The Murphy Center will undergo significant renovations as part of the Middle Tennessee State University Facilities Master Plan starting on Monday.

The renovations include updated bathrooms, updated concessions, a new HVAC system, new arena lighting and a new roof. As with every construction project of this magnitude there will be disruptions and complications for visitors, fans and tenants.

In order for only one basketball season to be affected, the project is expected to start in January and to be completed before the start of the 2014-2015 Basketball Season. The project will be broken up in four stages with each corner of the arena being worked on one phase at a time.

The first corner affected in this project is the southwest corner of Murphy Center, which will begin Jan. 6, 2014. In order to keep the majority of the dust and dirt contained to the construction area, a temporary wall will be put up during the process. This means that no foot traffic will be allowed on the track level in those areas.

For the first corner (SW) the walls will be put up behind sections F and K. Therefore, fans that have seats in sections F, G, H, J, and K will not be able to access their seats from the track level. It is recommend for fans to enter the seating area through the aisles between section E and F or K and L or enter the arena on the bottom floor and walk up the stairs to their seats.

The second corner affected is the northwest corner, which is scheduled to begin on February 25th, 2014. The areas partitioned off for this corner are sections K, L, M, N, and O with walls going up behind sections K and O.
