NAACP Candidate Forum, 3-11-10

March 11, 2010

The Bradley Academy Museum played host to a forum of this year’s city council and mayor candidates, jointly sponsored by the NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta. Goldie Wade, the head of the Rutherford County NAACP, established early on which city issues were most pressing to the group, and what they were looking for in a candidate. The forum was attended by candidates David Boyce, Thomas Connor Moss, Bill Shacklett, Brian Vaughan, Mark Nobles, and Madeline Scales-Harris for council, and challenger Tim Davis for mayor. Incumbent Councilmen Shane McFarland, Doug Young, David Edwards and Mayor Tommy Bragg were unable to attend, since a prior scheduled council meeting was taking place. For those of you who would like to hear the candidates for yourselves, log on to www.wgnsradio.com and keep it tuned here, as more forums and debates are set to be announced.
