National data Shows Strong Rutherford County Economy

Figures just released from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and U.S. Department of Labor, back-up other local stats confirming that Rutherford County's economy is extremely healthy and continues to rise.

Data shows 4,415 new jobs locally in the 12-months that ended in September of 2015. That translates to a 3.9 per cent increase in employment in Rutherford County.

Of Tennessee's largest counties, Rutherford County is ranked at number 5 in numbers of persons in the local workforce. There are 117, 267 persons employed locally. Here are the 4 counties that rank higher and the number who have jobs there: (1) Shelby 483,636, (2) Davidson 458,719, (3) Knox 232,924, and (4) Hamilton 194,842.

Unfortunately, Rutherford County scored poorly in the average weekly income. In fact, this new information shows this county to be less than the average of all counties in Tennessee. The average income of this state is $865 per week, whereas the new figures show Rutherford County with an average weekly income of $844. Neighboring Williamson County was $1,100, Davidson was $1,000, while Wilson County was lower at $800.

Overall, Tennessee's employment increased in 19 of this state's 20 largest counties from September 2014 to September 2015. Those counties had 25,000 jobs or more and created more than 2.7 million jobs throughout the state. Tennessee as a whole grew 2.6 percent over the year, also above the national job growth rate.
