Nearly a full soda bottle worth of cocaine seized by Murfreesboro Police

17 Ounces of powder cocaine was logged into evidence by Murfreesboro Police during an investigation this past week. Think about that for a second, the average soft drink that you purchase at a gas station is 20-ounces in size. This suspect is accused of possessing 3-ounces less than a 20-ounce soda.  

Salvador Estrada-Estupinan who is a native of Mexico, was apprehended at an apartment on Bradyville Pike. There, Estrada-Estupinan allegedly took possession of a package that contained the cocaine. According to the report, the 32-year old suspect stated, “Mr. Estrada admitted to knowing the contents of the package (cocaine) and stated he was going to sell it for profit.” The man was charged with the felony possession of cocaine with the intent to sell. He will appear in court on May 1, 2013.

Estrada-Estupinan will not be released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He is being held on what is called an “I.C.E. Detainer.” The culprit is facing the possibility of being deported. An immigration detainer is a notice that the Department of Homeland Security issues to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to inform them that the immigration enforcement agency intends to assume custody of an individual that is currently in local law enforcement’s custody. According to the immigration enforcement service, detainers are critical for ICE to be able to identify and ultimately remove criminal aliens who are currently in federal, state or local custody.
