The $17.6-million Bridge Over Broad project is entering a new phase. Entrance and exit ramps are being opened to handle traffic.

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews are shifting traffic plans, and are working from 8:00 each night until 6:00 in the mornings, with alternating lane closures on Old Fort Parkway, Memorial Boulevard, and Broad Street.

Once the new traffic pattern is in place, eastbound traffic on Old Fort Parkway will be traveling on the newly constructed ramps on the south side of the roadway. The new traffic pattern will be in place until the project completion, which is scheduled for December, 2017.

The Bridge Over Broad project, which started in January, 2014, calls for a complete reconstruction of the intersection of Broad Street and Memorial Blvd./Old Fort Parkway by creating a single point urban interchange to relieve extreme congestion. The project will create a new bridge on Memorial Boulevard, that will cross over Broad Street. The $17.6 million project is expected to be completed in December 2017.
