TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center is pleased to welcome General Willie V. Melvin, III, M.D., F.A.C.S., board- certified general surgeon, to its medical staff. He has joined The Surgical Clinic located in the Physicians Building at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center.

Dr. Melvin is a graduate of Texas Southern University in Houston with a bachelor's degree in Biology and he received his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Melvin completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. Prior to joining The Surgical Clinic at TriStar StoneCrest, Dr. Melvin served as Assistant Professor of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery Instructor at Nashville VA Medical Center, both in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Melvin is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Society of Robotic Surgeons, the America College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

Dr. Melvin is now seeing patients at The Surgical Clinic located at 300 StoneCrest Boulevard, Suite 360, Smyrna, Tenn.
