New Life University (NLU) is currently accepting applications for the winter semester of the Pastoral Counselor tract. Deadline for enrollment is Friday, January 16, 2015. If you have ever wanted to be a counselor, talk with people about their problems, or have a desire to help hurting people around you then New Life University may provide that opportunity.

New Life is affiliated with Branches Counseling Center and since 2009 has served over 100 students. Dr. Mike Courtney , Executive Director and Founder of Branches says, "It has always been the mission of Branches and NLU to make quality, Christian counseling as accessible as possible to the general public. Training and equipping pastoral counselors is a very natural step toward that end."

New Life University focuses on basic counseling skills, understanding temperament, and crisis intervention, all from a Biblical base. Students enter a two year program doing about half of the courses by directed study and half in a classroom setting. Classes are scheduled in a Friday evening/Saturday morning seminar type format with 2 to 3 weekends completing a course. "Our students take about 12 weekends over a 2 year period to complete the coursework," Dr. Courtney says.

New Life University has placed a number of graduates in local churches and ministries. The program is especially suited for second career adults or empty-nest mothers who are seeking a rewarding career that encompasses a call to ministry to those hurting in our communities.
