A Smyrna man was convicted on felony drug charges on May 2 following a two day jury trial in the Rutherford County Circuit Court. Roy A. Smith, 55, was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges of possession and two felonies that included Possession of Schedule 3 Narcotics for Resale and Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Selling Narcotics.

Christiana man charged with 8th DUI on Friday, released from jail on Saturday
This most recent arrest of Richard Bobbitt occurred on Friday, January 18th in Rutherford County. A booking document from the Sheriff’s Office shows that Bobbitt was released 9-hours later after posting bond on Saturday, January 19th. The outline of Bobbitt’s charges state, “Driving on revoked first offense and greater” and “DUI 4th or greater (Felony).”

Upcoming February meeting for parents of future students of Stewarts Creek High School
A new high school will soon be OPEN in August of this year. Stewarts Creek High was approved for construction by Rutherford County Commissioners in 2011. The cost was $50-million. A meeting is planned for parents of future students in February.

Nissan LEAF Now Officially Being Produced in Smyrna Plant
The 2013 Nissan LEAF is now being produced in Tennessee. Nissan announced in a news release on Wednesday that production of the all-electric car had officially begun in Smyrna, next door to the company’s lithium-ion automotive battery plant.

Rep. Sparks Announces Special Second Amendment Event: Rally and Pistol Shoot
State Representative Mike Sparks, who if fully behind the second amendment, will hold a Rally and Pistol Shoot this Saturday from 12-2pm. The event will feature the author of “More Guns, Less Crime,” John Lott. The $20-event should be well received in Rutherford County, as we are ranked number five in the state for having the most citizens with a handgun permit.
