While the White House was complimenting Walmart for using this country's new lower tax rate to give pay increases and bonuses to workers, customers were finding some Sam's Club locations closed with no notice.

Reports indicate that customers and employees arrived at some locations to find doors at the massive retailer to be locked.

The Murfreesboro location is not one of the stores being shuttered, but the one in the Bellvue neighborhood of Nashville is on the list. A phone call to that store on Thursday produced a recorded message . . .

Two Tennessee closings were in the list of Sam's Clubs across the U.S.: The one at 615 Old Hickory Boulevard in Nashville, and a Memphis store on Getwell Road.

It's business as usual on both the Sam's and Walmart websites, but Sam's FaceBook page is buzzing with comments.

The Wall Street Journal says 10 per cent of the 660 stores are being closed with potentially 10,000 jobs being impacted. The national publisher reported that around a dozen of the locations will become fullfilment centers.

Again, the Murfreesboro Sam's Club is not on the list of stores announced Thursday (1/11/2018), but a store in Nashville and one in Memphis are closing.
