Nissan Expansion Announced

Nissan will expand its vehicle assembly plant in Smyrna, bring 1,000 new jobs. Governor Haslam and Nissan officials made the announcement at the State Capitol Tuesday. The company will invest 160-million dollars to build a new supplier park. NewsRadio WGNS told you Monday about the new jobs coming, with a confirmation from Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce President Paul Latture who said the jobs would be in the field of advanced manufacturing. The jobs will bring with it an average wage of 38-thousand dollars, not counting benefits. Nissan first opened in Smyrna back in 1983 and was the first automotive plant in the state.
