No arrest made in skinned cat case in Murfreesboro

A very serious animal cruelty case is being investigated by Murfreesboro Police at this time. Reports indicate a cat on Pine Court was skinned. The animal cruelty case was reported on Tuesday.

The victim told officers that he did not personally witness the cat being skinned, but was told that his wife's boyfriend was responsible for the injury to the cat, according to the incident report. The boyfriend reportedly goes by the nickname of "G" and "stays somewhere on Eagle Street."

The cat was skinned from its neck down to a portion of its back. It was an area of about 2-inches wide and 10-inches long, which left some of the cats' muscle tissue exposed. The cat was still alive when police arrived and the animal was taken by the Pet Adoption and Welfare Services Office (P.A.W.S.).

A trap has been set up by in the Pine Court area to catch a second cat that may have been injured as well. Pine Court is in the area of North Tennessee Boulevard.

WGNS spoke to Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans who confirmed an arrest has not been made in the animal cruelty case. He said a $1,000 reward is being offered by CrimeStoppers for information that leads to an arrest. To leave an anonymous tip, call 893-STOP (893-7867).
