Oakland Basketball Coach's Son Undergoes Surgery

Oakland boys basketball coach Mike Wright has stepped away from his team for several days to be with his five-year old son, who recently underwent surgery. His son, Cason, who was born with cancer, had surgery this week repair damage caused by a surgery he had when he was very young. Wright says his son recovering at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital after a successful surgery. Wright will be away until his son returns home and is several days into his recovery. Assistant Coach Curt Bell will be the interim head coach until Wright's return. He and wife Autumn said on Cason's Caring Bridge page that "he (Cason) is such an amazing little boy and we thank God for him each and every day. The hospital staff is amazing and we have so many wonderful friends, family, co-workers, and people whom we have never met praying for Cason, the doctors, nurses, as well as for us- it is truly overwhelming."
