Local high student Cariyana McKinley-Adams is organizing an Oakland High School letter writing campaign to the students at Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida. The program is called "Dear Stoneman...from OHS", and it is sponsored by the Oakland's student council.

Cariyana, better known locally as "CQ", decided she wanted to help others. She wanted to help in way that could involve her entire school. Beginning today, CQ along with members of the OHS Student Council are manning tables at lunch to encourage their fellow students to write letters of encouragement to the students of Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. The group of OHS students put a plan together and worked with their principal, Bill Spurlock, to get the plan off the ground.

The students will collect letters through next week. One student, Nyosha Foster, has already finished a letter. Nyohsa writes, "You are stronger than you think. I'm on your side, OHS is on your side, and all of America is on your side."

Caryiara "CQ" hopes that students at Stoneman Douglas will see that other students care and are with them in their time of need. She also hopes that this will help students not feel alone as they process the events.
