The Old Timers Festival in La Vergne is open to all ages, but will feature some new activities for children on September 19 at Veterans Memorial Park. Along with a bounce slide and face painting, there will be human hamster ball races for children and pony rides with Pink Spur Party Ponies.

The Miss La Vergne Pageants and baby show will take place on August 22 at La Vergne High School. The application deadline is Monday, August 17 to participate and contestants must live in La Vergne or attend a school that serves La Vergne students. Pageants winners and runners-up will participate in the festival parade, scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on September 19.

Members of the La Vergne Senior Center are grand marshals of the parade, including Ms. Jane Vailes, a city resident who turns 100 on August 17. The theme of the 2015 Old Timers Festival is "A Moment in Time" and prizes will be given for top entries that emphasize the theme. The La Vergne Senior Center will also hold its annual bake sale during the festival, this year under Pavilion A at the playground.

The city has confirmed the Willis Clan, stars of a popular TLC Network television show, to provide a free concert for the community at 5:00 p.m. The family of musicians and dancers were featured on America's Got Talent during the ninth season in 2014 and they regularly appear on the Grand Ole Opry Show.

Applications are currently being accepted for crafts, civic groups, schools, churches, and business sponsors to distribute information about their organizations. There are some guidelines that will apply for organizations, as well as fees and size restrictions for the pony rides.

Information about the pageants, becoming a craft or food vendor, and becoming a sponsor are available online at www.oldtimersfestival.com.
