A man by the name of Benny Blumberg was arrested on child neglect charges in Smyrna on June 9th. 22-Year old Blumberg was allegedly watching a one year old child for a friend while at an apartment on Weakley Lane. Police Chief Kevin Arnold told WGNS that when the friend returned to her apartment she discovered the door was unlocked and the child was home alone. In an email, Chief Arnold wrote that the child was covered in vomit and had a soiled diaper on.

After a brief investigation, police arrested Blumberg and charged him with child abuse/neglect.  He was placed under a $6,000 bond and according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, he has not bonded out of jail as of 2:00, Tuesday afternoon.
