POSITIVE: Domestic Violence Program in Rutherford County receives grant

Rutherford County, Tenn. Domestic Violence Program & Sexual Assault Services was awarded a grant from The Healing Trust, whose purpose is to facilitate access to compassionate healthcare services for the most vulnerable people in Middle Tennessee. The Healing Trust awarded funds totaling an astounding $1 million plus in its most recent grant cycle. Recipients of the contributions include non-profit organizations from 40 counties in Middle Tennessee that focus on advocacy, physical health, mental health, recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, neglect, and violence.

"We are deeply grateful for the life changing work done by these 30 grant partners," said President & CEO of The Healing Trust, Kristen Keely-Dinger. "Their efforts to improve the health of our community is inspiring and we look forward to working in partnership with them." The mission of The Healing Trust, a private grant making foundation, is the sacred work of fostering healing and wholeness for vulnerable populations through strategic investing, philanthropy, and advocacy.

Domestic Violence Program & Sexual Assault Services (DVP&SAS) is honored to have received a $30,000 grant to assist in the agency's overall mission to protect victims, prevent violence, and empower survivors. Karen Lampert, Executive Director replied, "DVP & SAS uses the support of grant partners, such as The Healing Trust, to continue to provide a wide array of free services to aid victims of domestic and sexual violence in the most effective way possible. We are very proud of our 30 year history in serving Rutherford County to support victims and families through these difficult situations and be here in a time of critical need." Services include Safe Shelter, 24-hour crisis lines, legal advocacy, and counseling. Thanks to The Healing Trust grant funding, the program will be able to continue assisting those seeking to escape the pain, fear, and shame of domestic or sexual violence, and help in them establishing new feelings of hope, confidence, and security.
