PREVIEW: Siegel at Stewarts Creek

Aug 16, 2018 at 04:26 pm by bryan

All football teams have questions to answer going into the first prep game of the season. Siegel and Stewarts Creek are no different.

Stars coach Michael Copley (COPE-lee) says there is no actual game film to break down for his opponent, but he knows the Red Hawks will be sound:

While it's a non-region game for both teams, Siegel is hoping to be able to build on this game when region play rolls around toward taking one of four playoff spots come November.

Stewarts Creek coach David Martin says while this is the first game, it's no different than most:

As coach said, his team is young and rebuilding. So there are many unknowns when it comes to the Red Hawks. They just missed the playoffs last year, with a tough loss to La Vergne to end the season.

Last year was Copley's first game as head coach of the Stars. The Red Hawks were coming off the school's first ever playoff season and moving back to Class 6A. It was Siegel taking a 43-2 win in that game.

While the questions were different going into last year's game, the game Friday night will begin to give each coach answers to the season that lies ahead for both.

Pregame coverage of Siegel at Stewarts Creek will begin at 6pm with Friday Night Thunder Pregame, hosted by Dennis Weaver. Then, at 6:30pm, it's the Primetime Sports Countdown to Kickoff, sponsored by the Law Offices of John Day. The sports team will break down each county match up and focus on the broadcast game. Kickoff is set for 7pm.

GAMES THIS WEEK INCLUDE:
