Traffric Engineer Ram Balachandran warns that prime construction weather will be with us for a few more months, and so will traffic jams. His road warnings for today through August 26th are growing.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd, Old Fort Pkwy and Ridgley Road for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street at Broad St is opened to traffic and is restricted to right-in and right-out movements only. Westbound traffic has been shifted to the north side to align with the newly constructed ramp. On Broad St, the northbound and southbound left turn movements can only be made during a protected turn signal phase. Appropriate traffic controls and detours will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd is reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Appropriate traffic control will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - August 31, 2017: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements. Burton St traffic will be detoured onto College St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Front St for construction work. N Maple St between College St and Burton St and W Lytle St between N Maple St and N Front St will be closed to through traffic until end of August 31, 2017. Access driveways to local businesses will be kept open. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Maple St Alley Improvement Project (between W Main St and W Vine St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: The Maple St Alley will be closed to through traffic between W Main St and W Vine St for construction work. Deliveries to local businesses will be from Walnut St, W Vine St and Public Square. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

TDOT Roadway Improvements and Signalization Project (Manchester Pike at Dalton Mankin Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Incidental work continues at Manchester Pike and Dalton Mankin Rd. There will be minor lane shifts and traffic interruptions on Manchester Pike. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Sewer Installation Project (Manson Pike between Brookwood Ln and Rexland Pl)

Expected Road Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing sewer lines across Manson Pike. Traffic on Manson Pike will be reduced to one lane flagging operation. The contractor will be working this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) to make up weather related loss time. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Urban Environmental Department Tree Removal Work (N Walnut St just south of W Chestnut St)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday, Weather Permitting, 8:30 am to 2 pm: Contractor for City Urban Environmental will be removing a tree on N Walnut St just south of W Chestnut St. Traffic on N Walnut St will be reduced to one lane flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Medical Center Pkwy at Gateway Blvd Right Turn Lane Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be adding a westbound right turn lane on Medical Center Pkwy at Gateway Blvd. Westbound traffic on Medical Center Pkwy will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM: City casting contractor will be adjusting casting at the following street:

  1. Satinwood Dr between Thompson Ln and Tanglefoot Ct.
  2. Riverview Dr between 2000 Block to Royal Dr
  3. Royal Dr between Montclair and Thompson Ln
  4. Andrew Jackson Blvd between Central Valley and Alamo Dr.
