A 19 year old in Murfreesboro reported to police that she was raped by a man inside his Waterford Place apartment on South Church Street.

The victim said that she recently met the suspect in his apartment complex gym and he asked her to go to the movies. She later agreed to go and before leaving in his car, he told her that he forgot something in his apartment. The man then went back into his rental unit and texted her that it might take a while and to come on up.

According to the victim, as she was sitting in his living room he turned the lights off and then raped her. She was able to break away after being attacked and started walking home. A woman who saw her in distress and walking picked her up to give her a ride. The victim then went to the hospital where a rape kit was completed.

According to the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 13.3 percent of college women say they have been forced to have sex in a dating situation. Furthermore, The Bureau of Statistics report that only 28 percent of victims report their sexual assault to the police.

Police have the suspects name, approximate age and address. He is a 24 year old Hispanic male who stands about five foot six inches tall weighting around 160 pounds. The man is believed to live at Waterford Place.

The case is under investigation by detectives. An arrest is pending.
