RCSO Detective Fired

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office lieutenant detective we told you was under two investigations has now been fired.

Jason Mathis in the narcotics department, was let go by Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.

He is under two investigations - one by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and another an internal sheriff's office probe.

Mathis was placed on leave with pay as a result of those investigations. He was a 20-year veteran of the sheriff's office.

Lt. Jason Mathis has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of two investigations. One by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the other a RCSO internal probe.

There have been no details into what lead authorities to look into Lt. Mathis and they aren't expected until the investigations can be completed. He will remain on leave during that time as well.
