Riverdale Advances to AAA State Championship Game

Riverdale advances to the Class AAA Championship game with an 80-58 win over Memphis Central.

They used a 10-nothing run at the end of the third quarter to put distance between them and Memphis Central and go up by 16 going into the fourth.

Riverdale shot 59-percent for the game. Memphis Central shot only 32-percent, despite putting up 75 shots. Alexis Whittington had 23 points and Anastasia Hayes finished with 21.

A Murfreesboro team has been in the state championship game for the last seven years in a row, winning the last four. Last year, it was Blackman and Oakland in the title tilt.

The Lady Warriors have advanced to the state title game every year they've been in the tournament. They finished runner up in 1979, won the tournament in 2007 and 2010. They finished runner up in 2011. And they won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. They're looking for their fifth state championship against Oak Ridge on Saturday.
