Riverdale Hits Record 12 3's Enroute to 70-55 Win over Morristown West

The Riverdale Lady Warriors were 12-of-17 or 71-percent from the three-point line. That was plenty of firepower to outgun Morristown West 70-55 in the quarterfinals of the TSSAA Blue Cross Basketball Championships.

Riverdale actually tied the girls basketball state tournament record from the three-point arc. It was a record set by the 2013 edition of the Lady Warriors who went on to win a state and national title that year.

Down by 20 at one point in the third quarter, the Lady Trojans got within 50-42. But Riverdale hit three 3-pointers and pulled away.

Junior guard Anastasia Hayes says she and the team didn't let the run rattle them...

The Miss Basketball finalist finished with 14 points and four assists. Sophomore Brinae Alexander finished with a game high 17. Amanda Whittington finished with 15-points and was 5-of-6 from the three-point line.

Riverdale Coach Randy Coffman, in his first year, says he's got a special group that's driven to win a state championship...
