Rutherford County Commission, 10-15-09

October 15, 2009

It was quite a controversial night at the Rutherford County Commission. After two Boy Scouts from pack 123 in Eagleville led the 20 present commissioners in the pledge, the group opened the floor for five public comments, which all focused on the legality of the Legal Services Agreement passed at the September meeting. Commissioner Daniel also commented on that matter. Additionally, the commission heard one public hearing, to rezone approximately 2.67 acres located at 768 Baker Road, a proposal which was swiftly and unanimously granted. New notaries were elected and several vacancies were filled, one on the Board of Zoning Appeals and two on the Beer Board. Many budget amendments were made, for the Sheriff’s Department, the Health Department, and the General Purpose School Fund, as well as to the Ambulance Service Fund. The commission also passed resolutions to apply for grants with the Tennessee State Library and Archives, as well as a Highway Safety Grant with the Department of Transportation. Finally, the commission passed a resolution to name the bridge on Highway 96 E the James C. McKnight Bridge.
