The Tennessee Corrections Institute has told Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold that a fence is needed around the local jail. However, the funding is not available to build the fence around the Adult Detention Center. Sheriff Arnold told WGNS that funding is also lacking to hire 43 new staff members to oversee the jail itself.

Arnold said that just one person monitors video feeds of two jail sections, which is not the ideal situation. 200 Inmates are in the section of the jail that is being monitored by video cameras and 200 more inmates are in the opposite section...

The funding for the fence and the additional employees will have to be approved by the Rutherford County Commission, but at this point that has not occurred.
