Rutherford County teachers earn Mechatronics certification thanks to Bridgestone class in La Vergne

Teachers from Rutherford County Schools and other education institutions recently completed a Mechatronics certification class at the Bridgestone Plant in La Vergne.

By completing the course, they will be able to teach Mechatronics at their respective institutions, which will allow their students to become industry certified. Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer control and information technology.

Siegel High School offers a Mechatronics program through a partnership with Nissan North America and the Tennessee Center for Applied Technology in Murfreesboro (TCAT). Smyrna High School is also pursuing a Mechatronics program that meets at the Bridgestone training center in La Vergne. Bridgestone sponsored Smyrna teacher Steven Luboniecki and Schwan Cosmestics sponsored Jason Veal from Siegel High School for the certification class.

Oakland High School in Murfreesboro also offers a Mechatronics program that allows students to complete their Siemens Level I certification before graduating high school. The school partners with Bridgestone, Schwan Cosmetics, and Motlow State Community College.

Rutherford County Schools thanks its industry partners for continuing to support its students and teachers through the Mechatronics programs.
