Saturday Murder In Reid Alley--Suspect Arrested!

Shortly after 1:00 o'clock Saturday (5/19/2018) afternoon, Murfreesboro Police responded to a call of a shooting at 532 Reid Alley. Upon arrival patrol officers found a male shooting victim unresponsive outside the residence.

The victim was treated on the scene by members of the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford by Rutherford County Emergency Services where he was pronounced deceased.

The suspect was on scene and was taken into custody by uniform patrol officers and was later interviewed by detectives.

During the interview the 32-year old suspect, Nathaniel Lamont Buchanan made statements that he shot the victim during a dispute that had turned physical. A gun was recovered at the scene near the suspect who was inside the residence when he was taken into custody.

The victim was identified as 45-year old Medrick Lamont Elliot of Murfreesboro.

The suspect has been charged with First Degree Murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is currently at the Rutherford County Adult Detention center being held without bond.
