Scam Using I-Tunes Gift Cards in Murfreesboro

A Murfreesboro woman received a phone call from an unknown number telling her that she owed money to the police department for past fines. The victim claims the caller instructed her to purchase I-Tunes gift cards to pay the debt.

After the 18 year old victim spent $10,000 on gift cards and gave the pin numbers for each card to the caller, she realized something wasn't quite right. So, she went to the Murfreesboro Police Department.

While at the police department it was confirmed that the caller was likely in Pakistan. Therefore, the case could not be worked locally. The woman was advised that Interpol has the jurisdiction to help with the case.

Interpol is the worlds largest international police organization.

At this point, no arrests have been made.
