School board trustee accused of stealing ketchup
October 5, 2008
A school board trustee in Orange, California is in trouble after he “mustard” the nerve to steal a bottle of ketchup. Fifty-seven-year-old Steve Rocco was cited for putting a bottle of ketchup under his clothes last Saturday and leaving a cafeteria on the campus of Chapman University. If charges are filed and he’s convicted, he could face up to 45 days in the slammer.Rocco has a history of causing trouble. In 2005, the school board reprimanded him after he gave a long, rambling speech about credit unions and his father’s death. He was told to discuss school issues, but filed a lawsuit against the district, claiming his free speech rights were violated. The case was dismissed. Rocco’s tenure as a school board member will come to a close next month due to redistricting, but he plans to run for city council.
