A 39-year old man from Greenville, Tennessee who is on the sex offender registry has been arrested in Murfreesboro. Steven Evans was found to be staying at Motel 6 on Chaffin Place. The motel is within 1,000 feet of a day care.

Murfreesboro Police contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to ask if a travel voucher had been approved for Evans to stay at the motel. They told the MPD that they would not have approved such a voucher.

According to the arrest report, Evans is not allowed to be within 1,000 feet of a daycare or school due to him being on the sex offender registry. In 2010, he was charged with solicitation of a minor and exploitation of a minor with an electronic device.

Evans, who was charged with “Violation of the Sex Offender Registry,” will have to appear in court on August 20, 2014.
