A brother accused of shooting toward his sister and threatening to shoot deputies was apprehended after a six-hour stand-off Tuesday near Rockvale, said Sheriff Robert Arnold.

The Sheriff’s Felony Arrest Search Tactical Team was called after Jeffery Allen Jackson, 39, of Windrow Road allegedly barricaded himself inside a house, the sheriff said.

FAST Team Commander Sgt. Chris Kauffman said Jackson apparently told his father he would kill responding officers.

“He was lying in bed with his AR-15,” Sgt. Kauffman said. “After numerous, numerous attempts, we used the armored vehicle and he surrendered.”

Earlier in the morning, Jackson allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend, then went on a tirade damaging cars and firing a shotgun at his sister, the sergeant said. She left the scene and drove to the Tiger Mart store on Fortress Boulevard where she contacted a Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Jackson’s father called him and the son told him he would kill the responding deputies. The FAST Team was activated and responded. They were on the scene more than five hours.

After his surrender, Detective Phil Brooks charged Jackson with aggravated domestic assault. He is being held at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on $8,000 bond. A hearing is set Sept. 18 in General Sessions Court.
