"Smart" Devices in Local Classrooms

Rutherford County students may soon join others around the state and country allowing the use of cell phones, iPads and other electronic devices in the classroom.  The pilot program is either up and running or soon will be at McFadden, Central Magnet, Christiana Middle, Riverdale and La Vergne High Schools. The "Bring Your Own Device" program expand to other schools in the fall, especially Stewarts Creek High. It would allow the use of smart devices by students, at the discretion of teachers, in the classroom for research. Here in Middle Tennessee, Williamson and Wilson Counties are considering similar measures and Kingsport schools in East Tennessee are among those exploring the possibility of allowing kids bring their own technology to school.
