Smyrna, Oakland Girls Reach Semis, MTCS Boys in Title Game

Smyrna and Oakland girls reach the District 7-AAA Semifinals and ensure a region berth with Friday wins.

After losing the two regular season matchups to Blackman by one-point each, Oakland led throughout the tournament game and pulled away to a 59-40 win. Sloan Mann led Oakland with 15 points while Maddie Cook chipped in 14. Oakland will face Stewarts Creek in the semifinals Saturday at 5pm.

Smyrna used a 17-to-5 second quarter and held off Siegel in the third to pull away to a 55-37 win. Keisha Brady led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 while Tyra Hughes had 14. The Lady Stars were led by Morgan Pepela's 17, including seven three-pointers. Smyrna will face Riverdale at 2pm.

In District 9A, the MTCS boys reached the championship game with a 76-52 win over Community. They got 25-points from Kavin Hill. They'll take on Huntland for the title on Monday, which edged Eagleville 59-53 in overtime. Ethan Cobb scored 17 for the Eagles in the loss.
