Smyrna Police announce the closure of Sam Ridley Parkway for the Air Show - FAA Requirement

Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold informed WGNS that Sam Ridley Parkway will be temporarily shut down during certain hours of the day Thursday through Sunday. The reason for the closures are due to the preparation and actual flight displays at the air show. The FAA is requiring the closures to take place. The air show is this Saturday and Sunday at the Smyrna Airport. 

  • On Thursday (June 12th), traffic on Sam Ridley Parkway from the intersection of North Lowry Street (also known as Murfreesboro Road) to the intersection of G Street will be closed per FAA rules from 11:30am until 5:00pm.

  • On Friday (June 13th), traffic on Sam Ridley Parkway from the intersection of North Lowry Street (also known as Murfreesboro Road) to the intersection of G Street will be closed per FAA rules from 2:30pm until 5:00pm.
  • On Saturday (June 14th), traffic on Sam Ridley Parkway from the intersection of North Lowry Street (also known as Murfreesboro Road) to the intersection of G Street will be closed per FAA rules from 2:30pm until 5:00pm.
  • On Sunday (June 15th), traffic on Sam Ridley Parkway from the intersection of North Lowry Street (also known as Murfreesboro Road) to the intersection of G Street will be closed per FAA rules from 2:30pm until 5:00pm.

Traffic will be diverted from these locations on all the days listed and there could be side roads near this location that are affected as well.
