Have you ever wondered why police officers do so much paperwork? Have you ever wondered how much training a police officer or a dispatcher go through? Have you ever gotten curious on the type of calls the Smyrna Police Department answers? Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to ride in the front seat of a patrol car? Well now is your opportunity! The Smyrna Police Department is accepting applications for their upcoming Smyrna Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy.

The only qualifications are that you either be a Smyrna resident or you work in Smyrna and that you be 18 years of age or older. You must be willing to undergo a background check and you must not have an extensive criminal record. Final approval is done by the Chief of Police. There is a $25 fee that will be collected the first night of class.
The classes will begin on January 30th, 2014 and will last until April 17th, 2014. They will meet on every Thursday night at the Smyrna Police Department from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. These classes are conducted over 12 weeks.
