Special Olympics THURSDAY at MTSU

Special Olympics will have track and field events this Thursday (4-12-2012) at Middle Tennessee State University. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Area 16 games for Special Olympics kicks off at 9:20 Thursday morning at Central Magnet School on East Main Street in Murfreesboro. SRO Dick Peach will led the run.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s School Resource Officers and other deputies, along with high school athletes, will run the Olympic Torch from Central Magnet to the games at MTSU.

The opening ceremony is 10:00 o'clock with the competition starting at 10:30AM. The games should be completed by 1:00 Thursday afternoon.

About 350 students with intellectual disabilities from Rutherford County, Murfreesboro and private schools will compete, according to Special Olympics co-chairs are Lou Paschall and John Harris.
